10 Ways to Become More Independent
Independence is a concept that can be applied to a wide variety of things. Many of us strive for it, but few of us truly have a grasp for what it means. There are times where you are being independent and are completely unaware of it. While other times, you are being entirely dependent on something and not realizing it. People like to criticize others for not being self-sufficient and in control. There are so many ways to break it down, but let’s keep it simple. Although there are more than 10 ways to become independent, it really depends.
—
Even if we were alone, we would still be dependent. The unfortunate truth is most of these people have the same problem as the ones they scrutinize. Not everyone has the same upbringing or priority that gives them the lessons that needed learning. Many of us rely on the thoughts and actions of other without even knowing that it happened. There are even holidays like Independence Day that celebrate freedom, but freedom from what? In the end, there is nothing wrong with being dependent, but it never necessarily hurt anyone more for giving the alternative a shot. When we are talking about personal responsibility, there is no better way to conceive it than becoming independent. These are the 10 ways to become more independent.
10 Ways to Become More Independent
1. Isolation
When we are alone, we are doing things more on our own, but it can come down to how much we are doing it. There are people who live in isolation, but they are relying on someone else to help pay the bills. We are all dependent on something, and it just so happens to be the nature of our existence. It does not mean that some of these things are not important in and of themselves. Being by yourself gives you the opportunity to practice many forms of independence. If anything, you are the most independent kind of person. Even if you are being helped, there is nothing wrong with learning new skills in the meantime.
—
You have the ability to engineer your own personality and qualities that make being independent matter. While you can make it an exercise, many people do this without any intention involved whatsoever. If someone wants to be a hermit or is living at their parent’s house, there is more that matters than this. Most people focus on one thing incorrectly, but it is not to say that it cannot play an important role in perception. Sometimes all it takes is to avoid those who create more struggle for you. These people are all too often dependent on you, even if you do not realize it. In spite of this, isolation can make you dependent on your independence in more ways than one.

2. Learning
Of course, giving yourself a chance to sit back and learn is crucial to just about anything in life. Some of us will spend time with studying and others just happen to learn in through personal experience. It may even be the focus of your existence instead of a simple hobby. You can almost say that we are dependent on our learning capabilities. The vitality of our brains relies on our ability and drive to learn. If we did not have this, then we would be useless. Sometimes, all we need to know is that we should get out of the house for our state of mind. This helps us gain some independence in more ways than one.
—
To say that we do not learn something every day is another misconception. Thinking that there is anything but learning how to solve that next problem in your life is the wrong lesson, too. The one thing we all have to consider is what we are “learning.” If we are learning how to scheme, lie, or cheat with misinformation, we are taking all of the wrong things away. Most of our independence comes from learning new things. If we know something about fixing cars, we may not need someone else’s help when our car breaks down. Even then, we asked for help, even though we are all only capable of so much.

3. Dependence
The point of learning and independence is to rely on other people as little as possible. There is a defined goal, but reaching this goal is nigh impossible and comes with a host of caveats. If you need to get on your feet, you may have someone around to help you get there. It may seem ironic, but being dependent for a while can help you become more independent. This is all a part of the learning process, and many of us have this when we are growing up. It may not always come with the best childhood, but it is generally always there.
—
Some of the most independent people are those who struggled with abuse or neglect growing up. The problem is that this is no way to go about teaching someone practically speaking. If learning how to overcome and survive is the goal, then this can unfortunately come in handy. Not everyone who was abused will end up being able to have this outcome, as it truly depends on the person’s circumstance. There are plenty of better ways to learn, and there is also nothing wrong with having a mentor later on. It is also okay to be a millennial living at their parent’s house.

4. Selfishness
Many of us had to make our own way, while others already had the money from mommy and daddy. While there is nothing wrong with growing up in a well off household, it can create problems. There are people who lose their minds and ability to be independent at all from the money. As you can see, rich or poor, you can end up with a good or bad lesson. Some of these lesson can bring the quality of self-importance and egoism into play. If all this sounds like is the meanderings of a depressive, then you are sorely mistaken.
—
If any of us want to be independent of others, it requires having this kind of bank account and a scheming brain. The selfishness and intelligence can become your best friend, but it can make you a whole lot of enemies. This becomes about stepping on toes to get to the top, and it begins to question the importance of integrity. Since this is not about an all size fits all, as there are numerous ways to look at how independence can be met. It can even be seen as something that can bring a lot of problems depending on what you include.

5. Money
We all know that money is the way to the top, and it is no secret that money can give you just about any kind of independence. Of course, this may mean that you are entirely dependent on your money. You can buy your way through just about anything, but can you do it yourself. This may bring the independence to pay for it yourself, but you stole the money and cannot prepare it without help. Not everyone who haves a whole lot of cash is entirely independent, even if they know their way around. There is no true way to be entirely independent, but this would be a “looser” definition of the word.
—
Everyone has to make their own way to some degree, as they are the ones living their lives. Just to put food on the table requires a little bit of effort, but the work is where it is at. It is not just about being rich and poor, because it boils down to having something to trade for another’s hard work. The issue here is that not all of us get paid enough for what we do. Other times, we are making the rules and getting way too much for the effort we put in. This is always going to be a struggle no matter what as long as we have other people around. It really depends on how you look at it, but it merely becomes a philosophical exercise then.

6. Generosity
While I am trying to give you some advice, there is more than that to this article. Sometimes, it is about being generous and helping others out. On occasion, it may end up giving you something back in return for your generosity. Other times, you were simply trying to make a point or be funny. If you are willing to give, then you may be able to receive. While this ironically sounds like dependence, the transaction of generosity only seems that way to the insecure. While some people simply do not want to be helped, others will be more open to it.
—
You are not necessarily relying on someone, especially if it is something extra of good will. You can still be generous and independent, but it can also make you more independent. The one thing to avoid is the desire to scheme for this good will, even if it is human nature. This can be analogous to parents giving a child a decent childhood. It simply take the right balance of abuse to hinder someone’s abilities, and this is often overwhelming neglect. While intelligence has something to do with it Even if I am making you think a little bit more, it certainly makes it all worth it, overall.

7. Items (Technology)
If you know how to do the shortcut, you can end up winning the race. The referee may give you a pass, even if the move was illegal. If you were found out for cheating, you still found something you could use to your advantage. Like many items on this list, you may wonder the point of their inclusion. The point of having certain things like new technology can make your independent job even easier. This is something that nearly everyone has at their disposal, but some people have the privilege of more. We can all find some reasonable life hacks to make things a little easier, but some people can buy their way to success.
—
Many of us take these things for granted, but they make all the difference in adding to your independence. Even if our lives as a whole depend on more, we are independent in more ways thanks to new tools. This technology gives us the ability to do more things on our own. Any kind of independence can also be used as leverage against someone else. There is even a saying that success is the best way of getting back at someone else. To conclude, there is always something to take away or give someone else through independence or dependence, be it good or bad.

8. Health
Back in the day, we had very little at our disposal, including health care, videogames, and even simple computing devices. Eventually, things were going to change, and it just so happened to change in the way it did. It could have been different, but this is not possible except in mind to hypothesis. If anything, it would not have been so much different that it would not be recognizable, at least to those living in that alternative. The same thing can be said for inventions, which were often brought about through having very little alternatives. Instead of living in the dirt, people decided to make a change.
—
They had the time to do it, even though the lacked the somewhat lacked the resources to do it. The motivation was there, and the distraction was nonexistent, at least to some degree. We had to start from somewhere, and this somewhere could be your health. Although it required some desire through personal change, people had drive. Nowadays, we are all addicted to our phones, and this is not mentally or physically healthy. The standards are high now, and if we do not eat right or exercise, we can end up struggling. The last thing you want is some kind of disease involving you on a hospital bed or wheelchair. Much of this is on you, even if a lot of it had nothing to do with any of your conscious choices. In all, it is not always so easy to know the so-called obvious unless you are constantly reminded.

9. Needing
Making someone feel weak because they made you feel bad is no better than their insecurity. While what you say may be true, it is often too concise and emotionally driven for it’s own good. They may have started the altercation between you and them, but it does little good in the end. This can lead to further arguments, but our visceral emotions in the moment are unfortunately more important. We are all intelligent enough to understand this, but few have an easy time putting reason into practice. Although it is nice to always be nice, it really seem like most people do not deserve it.
—
While I will lead this to my point through a segue, it really does not need it. If you learn to “lower your standards,” you may find that you need less. It is certainly needless to need more, and if you succeed, you can find yourself more independent. This goes back to a point made earlier on about needing and having more. The more you have, the more you learn to need, and the more you need, i.e., money, the more you can end up screwed. We can all want things, but this only leads up to having more to lose later on. You can sell your soul to the devil, but does this make it more important. In this sense, independence can certainly be more important and boils down to richness.

10. Safety
As mentioned above, there are numerous ways to go about the word independence, but this does not make it complicated. There are words that make things like this a complex subject more so, but this can be boiled down pretty easily. The context counts, but context is often ignored, even when emotions are not involved. This is something we should all be more cognizant off, but we do little to fix it out of laziness. Something like safety and caution can make a huge difference, and this harkens back to keeping good health. If you think that I am simply generalizing in vaguely defined terms, let me explain.
—
Most people like to take risks, e.g., gambling, skydiving, suicide, etcetera. Some people do not consider them risks, at least not enough to stop them from doing it. Even those who do not do these things think that they are fine, but they certainly would not do them. It ma even be the smallest thing, but it is still a risk. Safety is important to our well-being, and if we choose not to go out of our way, we pay less. Most people would not find this worth it, but it is only because of their misguided conditioning. We can all think of whacky thoughts, but there is a truth out there no matter what. All we are doing is speaking through the facts with our crazy ideas.
—
Not everyone does it, as I am not talking about everyone, but we are all involved here. We like to gamble with each other’s welfare, and we think little of it because who wants to think that much. It would simply ruin it in the end. The more proactive we become, we may feel as though we are going crazy. Although, it can be argued that it does make you better and more independent, at least independent-minded. Sometimes, all you have to do is feel it, and it may turn out to be true, at least to you. After all, we are all stuck in this little deterministic universe will little choice in the matter.
