Everyone is normal (or ordinary) to some degree; however, we must also understand that being “normal” is almost entirely arbitrary. (Although, there’s nothing stopping us from understanding how certain things are very common [or shared] amongst us.) We all share many similar qualities/aspects, and getting lost in the words is almost completely tired & useless. Furthermore, it’s simply another word to whitewash the facts away with more abstract meandering that gets us, almost begrudgingly, nowhere — the truth is what counts. Just understand that our normal experiences are “subjectively” tainted with nuance! Of course, being a normal human is both easy and hard; it depends on your definition and overall strangeness. 1. Use Your Brain

If you wish to display your dominance as an average earth dweller, then you may find that you have to use your brain. Of course, we can make this a joke about humans and how they’re particularly lazy and/or stupid, but this would be unnecessarily rude. People are actually quite “smart,” at least when they want to be. (All persons want to seek some a personal truth.) In spite of this, the average person is, in fact, a moron (extremely stupid); however, there’s a lot of room to gleam (or understand) that things are not so terribly bad. Although, we can also say that the dumbest of humans — the numerous special folks among the population — also use their brains. It’s also important to show that there is a discrepancy … .

2. You’re an Animal

Although the point of this article is to share how to be normal, there is nothing wrong with using science to understand how we are similar. Of course, it really comes down to simple science and a recognition that we are not THAT much different from other animals. We’re at least 98 percent similar to other primates. (Yes, we’re primates!) However, using markedly unscientific lingo doesn’t necessarily make this point that particularly well. “Why is this?” you ask. Well, it’s because we, as silly humans, believe that we are not animals at all, at least when it comes to vernacular that uses prospects of civilization, be it advanced or otherwise. What does this mean? Well, it means that you should be an animal.

3. Eat

If you’re a “normal” human, then there is room to say that you should consume edibles. Of course, we’re not talking about “drugs” per se, but we are talking about food, “edible food.” Unfortunately, some people have a hard time distinguishing between what is and isn’t a food; it’s the stuff that we (should) eat. For example, someone may eat a berry in the woods and not understand that they are poisonous (through a display of bitterness). At this point, we slowly gain the knowledge, and, even at times, realize that we are completely in the shitter. Of course, you can eat nonfood items; although, it may come as a surprise that some things cannot be properly eaten. However, does this also mean that it isn’t food.

4. Display Courage

The more that you display signs of courage (or bravery), the more that others will at least believe that you are fearless and brave. However, this perceptible quality is not always truly appreciated. People even do this every day, and it only goes to show that we have concern or selfishness. (There may be more to it than just that.) Hell, we can even understand that words can confuse us irreparable. We can do this; however, we may also struggle to understand that fearlessness is not a display of bravery. Of course, at least from here, we can indulge ourselves in the monikers of ideas and how they compare to objective reality, including our desire to feel better. Unfortunately for everyone, being objective should be the goal!

5. Stay Stupid

With life, there is not that much to go off of, especially when we consider that we are largely independent clusters/clumps of “living” matter. We can play games with words, and we may also choose to never ultimately get to the point when it truly matters. However, unless we are horribly pushed to the inevitable brink, we are actually waving the wand of incredulous stupidity wherever we go. Then again, this is not our fault, as our ideological vision is limited to probabilistic outcomes, i.e., the understanding of light. Of course, the permutations are significant, and, since we cannot see them play out, we must go stupid. Although, it doesn’t mean that we cannot understand them or the fact that the universe works this way.

6. Have Sex

We can either go to the store for food or have sex. Which one sounds better to you? Well, one may sound better, but there is room to also say that we have other priorities. What does this mean then? Well, it means that you must choose to have fun, or you can choose to have fun at more appropriate times. Not only will this show that you have the ability to control yourself, but it also means that you will likely attract more people (or sexual partners. Unfortunately, most people struggle to get sex. And when people do end up getting it, there’s usually reason to believe that they do not deserve it. In fact, I can give a plethora of reasons for this: debauchery, rape, and incest. After all, this often proves that we should be normal.

7. Make Your Bed

Every morning, you must make your bed to act like a normal person. “Why so?” you ask. Well, it comes down to having the discipline to do it! Does the average person have discipline? Well, they may have some, but they may not have enough discipline to fix every issue in their life (or to make their beds). Thankfully, there are enough disciplinary ideals in the modern zeitgeist to keep this 1950s trend going, right? I mean, if we’re to take anyone seriously, then they must have some kind of principle to fall back on. Discipline is actually one of these principles; although, it may not necessarily be a normal one. After all, making a bed is difficult, and if you have to go to work afterwards … what’s the actual point.

8. Take a Dump

There are a lot of things that everyone “takes” during their lives, and one of them is certainly related to taking dumps. However, whatever this may represent to you, you may also find that we are simple machines with no other choice/option. (We always have a choice, right?) Although, we can end up making decisions based on the deterministic outcomes that control our so-called destiny; we have no control. When we decide to finally look at it this way, then there’s no doubting that we have progressed as a species. In fact, a wise philosopher once said, “I took a shite not once or twice, but for the rest of my life.” And regardless of this little distraction, the point is that we are all normal to some degree, and we shouldn’t undermine our foundational facilities. I’m guessing that this also means that we shouldn’t give a s***.

9. Get a Job

We all understand that the average person has to support themself, and there’s nothing exceptionally wrong with that, right? However, we must also understand that not many people have grasped this personal necessity. And although this appears rather elementary, it’s actually not. It’s the truest, most profound way to look at our life, give meaning to motivation, and create a superficial way to display our ability to contribute to society. Furthermore, we must also look at where all of this work has been and where it’s actually going to end up. Before long, the robots will take over, and, even if this were not the case, we end up having a bad case of contrived hindrance. After all, we are just basic machines.

10. Die

If there’s one thing that we cannot deny about life, then it’s likely the understanding that we will all perish, meaning the fiery pits of death. “Yeah, but what’s wrong with you?” you ask. Well, it’s not me, and it actually comes down to our fear of death and our inability to accept it. Everyone is afraid! In fact, the more that we avoid this truth, the more that we will end up suffering in the process when our ego slowly degrades with our body. (There’s no truly positive outcome when it comes to being birthed into existence.) Then again, there’s nothing wrong with preaching to the choir, as just about everyone is fearful. Although, there is also room to believe that we should find ways to avoid this fear. And, at least as far as I know, there’s no way to avoid our ubiquitously undesirable doom — we shouldn’t accept it.

As you can see, there are numerous ways to display your averageness; the ways are actually close to being endless. (The idea is easy to understand, but the constituent parts are difficult.) And guess what, for the vast majority of the human populace, this may be fairly difficult to truly accept; although, for many, there is nothing all that challenging about it. Of course, we can also choose to describe this normal somewhat differently, at least depending on our ability to think at all critically. There’s even room for us to take a gander at how we choose to look at our lives and who we are as individuals (or as a whole). The only way to truly be able to understand this and/or to be or not be normal is to understand the truth even better. Every day is a new chance to do so, and there’s nothing wrong with screwing it up.
