The 10 Worst Expressions of Advice
Just about everyone gives bad advice from time to time, but how far are we willing to go. If you ask some people though, they will tell you that they feel perfectly fine with their behavior. Even then, the lack of respect that it shows by rationalizing a fake bid of concern is the last thing that we should do. Can we take this too far? Of course, but this does not justify what could be a place of rational affection. Although someone can show concern, it seems to make the advice appear even worse than before. Does this mean that we shouldn’t say anything at all? No, but it serves as a better alternative than displaying pity or pathetical and undermining contempt. Anyway, these are the 10 worst expressions of advice to give to just about anyone, and nothing will make this any different than before.

Don’t worry. Be happy!
The Optimist
1. Keep Doing What You’re Doing
We all have probably heard this one before, but it does not stop the vast majority of people from saying it. Afterall, when all of your chips are down, just keep on trucking through the crapola of your cruddy existence. “Why do people say this though?” you ask. Well, the obvious answer to this is that “keep doing what you’re doing” is easy advice to give, and it doesn’t really amount to much. Although it may be the answer, the need for this statement seems stale, disconcerting, and utterly pointless. Most of the time, the person giving this bit of advice is looking for an easy out. They may not even care about what you’re doing, but it doesn’t stop them from feeling better about themselves. If we had to look at this advice as a form of motivation, then it probably sits at the back of list.

2. We’re Wishing You Luck
There are far too many people that rely on outside help to make the world continue forward. Even if the person is showing some concern, this statement has a way of diluting it away. To make this even clearer, positive reinforcement and encouragement are one thing, but acting as though you care is another. In fact, wishing someone good luck from god or the banks of unknown fortune make little difference. The expression seems limp and useless, and it only goes to show that someone cares little about you. Is this a good thing? Sure, but not only does it not really mean anything, but it’s also some of the worst advice that someone can give. It doesn’t work as advice, but it also serves as advice and an expression worth pointing out as lunacy and indulgence.

3. Live Your Life to the Fullest
When you tell a crazy person to live their life to the fullest, what good are you doing exactly? Well, not much, and it’s an insulting exclamation to say the least. Of course, this is a rhetorical question, but this is an important point to make about the seriousness of a facile and useless expression. Although it seems like harmless advice to give, it really doesn’t make a difference. Afterall, you always have to consider what you say and who you’re talking to, right? Unfortunately, most people don’t do this, and they couldn’t give a crap about it either. They would rather walk around and give tepid and vacuous advice to the dumbest of people for the stupidest of reasons. The next time someone tells you this, be sure to give them the middle finger before they give you that load of crap once again.

4. We’re Praying for You
If we’re going to talk about vapid advice and useless expressions, then we have to discuss the people who pray. You see, while you’re going about your day and doing your hard work, people will pray for his godly services. Of course, we all have to do our due diligence, but god is there to help us if we pray for his unforsaken error. They think that this will somehow make a difference, and psychologically, it does help some people. However, people often take this impracticality too far by thinking that someone is answering if for them. Not only is it selfish and often poorly justified, religiously motivated or not, but we’re simply praying against a god’s ridiculous plan to begin with. Then again, our prayers may actually be a part of this silly plan that god dictates as some sort of reasonable idea, right?

5. Get/Keep Your Shit Together
With some statements, you can only expect so much, and there is always room to be an understanding individual. Then again, many people are too naïve or afraid to speak up about the irreverent disrespect that’s been levied against them. Even then, we can choose to take this solid piece of advice, but does this make it alright? No, it doesn’t, especially if we look at the intentions involved in making this sporadic “affirmation.” There is not much to do with it, therefore making it a harmless statement that reasonably considers the situation. Afterall, we all know that some people do not care or lack the clear thinking that it requires to help in a reasonable way. The same can be said about keeping your shit together, and sometimes, it’s the only thing that we have, decent and productive or not.

6. Keep Your Wits About You
If we want to, we can delve into the precise wordage and semantics of situational inconvenience. However, this makes us more liable to scolding criticism and verifiable rebuke when it comes to an overly judicial use of language. Then again, we always have to find better ways to express ourselves, and we all to often do it in the worst ways possible. Actually showing concern is another way of doing this, but selfishness often gets in the way. In fact, when someone tells you to keep your wits about you, they are castrating you in the face of uncertain danger. They’re not only being abrasive to you, but they’re also being irresponsible. Does it work as an expression of advice that involves low expectations at the forefront? Sure, but it does little to make a difference when it actually counts.

7. Do as I Say, Not as I Do
Just like everything else on the list, expressions can mean something when the expectations are set extremely low. It also makes a difference when you set yourself up for failure without any hope for reconciliation. Although, when it comes to making an expression, there’s always room to set yourself up as an example for good, minus the “bless you.” However, giving “good” advice while doing something “bad” is not always that great of a first impression.
—
Of course, this is simply nitpicking, but who’s to say that this does not truly matter. Then again, even if you trust someone, does it mean that they are giving you the best advice? Well, probably not, and you also have to consider if what they’re doing and/or saying is worthy of your attention. Afterall, some people give the worst advice and do some of the best things. Again, not every expression is obnoxiously bad, as they all have a decent enough purpose.

8. Don’t Worry About a Thing
As thinking things, we can find problems with just about anything. There are worries around every corner, and the fears we have are often reinforced with a deep, hardened anxiety. Unfortunately, we often find problems with the most mundane of things. We are always complaining about the small issues without looking at the big problem as well. Are we also doing the right thing though? Sure, but we’re not doing things the right way for the right reasons. This all obviously depends on the circumstance, but then again, it wouldn’t be what we’re talking about then. If we want to help people through their problems, then we should obviously show it. Simply bidding someone a farewell without any hope in sight does little to keep people satisfied. It may not be fun, but not taking action is worse.

9. You’re Making it Harder
Just like I mentioned in the previous item on this list: There are things that we can do. Well, we don’t just do them, because we are also doing them to make a difference. If we want to take the easy path, then it will obviously be a piece of cake. However, if you want to take the highroad, then it will take some hard work. In the end, it may end up paying off, but who can be bothered with this to begin with. Life is just too full of challenges that need to be overcome in the hardest of ways.
—
This is obviously sarcasm, but just because we don’t want to do something does not mean that it’s incorrect. If something is too hard, then it may be the right thing to do — this is not always the case. Even then, on occasion, the easiest thing to do is the right thing to do. It may not seem like a good idea, at least to you, but it ends up paying off. Also, who’s to say that we’re making it harder? Well, maybe it’s simply that hard, and you’re the one projecting and making it harder.

10. Take it Easy
The irony of this expression is very deep indeed, and if often comes of as hypocritical and insulting. We all can at least attempt to make our lives easier, but where do we begin with this challenge. At times, life is stressful, and we have to consider making the hard choices to get us by for good. Taking it easy may seem easy enough, but it’s actually there to undermine in uneasy situations. Of course, when you’re not doing the right thing, it means that you also have to accept that you’re an asshole.
—
Although we can all take it easy, it’s really not that easy when we’re looking at every single day that we’re alive. We have things on our minds, and telling us to chill out is not going to succeed. As a matter of fact, it works as a way of politely telling someone to shut their mouth; this is the best that we have. Thankfully, not all people have poor intentions when using this tepid and meek expression. There are also better ways to motivate people that actually help them for the long run.

The Clever One
Ending
There are plenty of other expressions that deserve to be on this list, but this and the scrutiny are a decent start. Most of them pretty much say the same exact thing, and they’re ultimately futile advice at best. The generalizations used are often exaggerated, but they offer at least something, right? In addition, we also have to mention the satire that is involved with our needless expressions. Although they came from a decent place, the place is filled with convenience and maliciousness. There are obviously ways that we can do better nowadays, even if these expressions have their spiteful place. In fact, some of them can be good for what they’re worth, and they’re even fun to scrutinize lazily. The next time that someone prays, be sure to let them know that you understand them fully.
